This series aims to help clinicians explore and understand the components that underpin the ways in which our patients and clients view and experience money, and its impacts on their quality of life. It also seeks to educate on how our views about money as practitioners have ramifications on our practice. It provides practical strategies to examine and improve our methods for helping patients and clients to understand and challenge their existing money schemas, develop more empowering ones, and improve their financial wellbeing.

Eva Forde

Eva Forde is an author, educator, entrepreneur, coach and master's level social worker. She received her Bachelors of Social Work from Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama and her Masters of Science in Social Work from Columbia University in New York, NY.

In her 20+ year career, she has worked with various populations, including victims of domestic violence and abuse, survivors of torture due to war, persons at the end-stage of life, persons living with HIV/AIDS, members of the LGBTQ community, young people in transition to adulthood, and with adult learners in university.

After moving to Jamaica and losing over $10,000 USD, she decided to focus her attention on financial literacy and, in the process, unearthed many disempowering beliefs about money - many of which stemmed from the social work profession. Since then, she's been on a mission to help social workers uncover their own limiting beliefs around money and well-being and the things that stand between them and living a truly rich life.

These days, Eva can be found helping high performing executives and teams create empowering environments through evaforde.com and helping social workers change their wealth mindsets at youtube.com/richsocialworker. Eva's 2013 publication, How NOT to Practice Social Work: Saving Good People from Bad Practice One Step at a Time, has been hailed as a “must-read for burgeoning social workers” by various social work programs around the world.

In Jamaica, she works part-time with the JMMB Joan Duncan Foundation where she serves as a Lead Facilitator and Sustainability Coach for their transformational program, Conversations for Greatness.
