Microaggressions: Awareness, Impact, and Pathways Toward Effective Intervention
A Two-Part Virtual Seminar Series

The SWEET Institute is proud to present a timely and important two-part virtual seminar exploring the nature, forms, impact, and intervention strategies related to microaggressions in personal, clinical, educational, workplace, and community settings.
This seminar series will be facilitated by Adaiah Lasalle, LCSW, a clinician, facilitator, educator, and emerging voice in the areas of social awareness, identity, internalized oppression, healing, communication, and transformation. Adaiah is also a co-author of the SWEET Institute Publishing book Rewriting the Script: The Power of Transforming Inner Dialogue in Oppressed Communities.
Microaggressions are often subtle, automatic, and difficult to recognize, yet their cumulative impact can significantly affect emotional well-being, relationships, workplace culture, psychological safety, engagement, trust, and overall mental health. These interactions may occur intentionally or unintentionally, verbally or nonverbally, individually or systemically.

This two-part seminar is designed to help participants better understand:
• What microaggressions are
• The various forms microaggressions can take
• The psychological, emotional, relational, and systemic impact of microaggressions
• Why microaggressions are often overlooked or misunderstood
• The role of implicit bias, assumptions, conditioning, and social learning
• The impact on communication, trust, belonging, and emotional safety
• Practical strategies for responding to and addressing microaggressions effectively
• How to foster more validating, conscious, and psychologically safe environments
Part One: Understanding Microaggressions

Participants will explore the foundations of microaggressions, including common examples, categories, lived experiences, psychological impact, and the ways they influence individuals, teams, systems, and communities.
Part Two: Intervention, Communication, and Transformation
Date: Thursday, June 11, 2026
Time: 8-9:30pm (EDT)
Participants will explore practical approaches for addressing microaggressions constructively, including communication strategies, emotional regulation, validation, accountability, repair, allyship, and creating cultures of awareness and respect.
